It was a good week for music discoveries, and I’ll share some of them starting at 11 a.m. today on this week’s Buzz Bands LA Show on The Independent FM. In particular: A great new electronic song (by Forest), a big new rocker (by VEERS) and a mind-bending new cover song (by Lone Kodiak). Along with those, I’ll have new songs from Jessica Childress, Cheshires, Thee Oh Sees, Butch Bastard and Trapdoor Social — plus tunes from bands with shows in the offing, like Kauf, Zipper Club and Silversun Pickups. Also: Songs from bands playing Chinatown Summer Nights and the Buzz Bands LA Stage at Echo Park Rising, both events on Saturday, Aug. 20. It adds up to two hours of local music, all Friday-like.
