Alhambra is located about 8 miles east of downtown Los Angeles — a tick farther than, for instance, Hollywood & Highland is, measured from L.A.’s City Hall. On Saturday, the San Gabriel Valley city of 85,000 gets into the festival business with the first MainFest Alhambra.

It goes off beginning at 1 p.m. in and around Alhambra’s downtown center at Garfield and Main streets and features nine bands on the main stage (outdoors), nine artists on the DJ stage and 24 more bands playing in three bars located near the city center.

Now that you’re probably oriented and backgrounded, here’s a mixtape of 22 of the artists playing MainFest — including Capital Cities (“new music coming soon,” their Facebook page promises), Miami Horror, Nite-Funk, Dead Sara, Thee Commons, !!! (Chk, Chk, Chk) and SWIMM.

General-admission tickets are $30. And if you want to drive by Phil Spector’s “Castle Pryenees” on the way to the festival, it’s tricky to find and you probably won’t see much.
