One week short of the release of their sophomore album “Kick at the Dust,” L.A. quartet PAPA kicked up a storm at the Bootleg Theater, the second of a three-Friday night residency leading up to next week’s record release show. The band soldiered through some problems with bassist Danny Presant’s amp, with frontman-drummer-showman Darren Weiss doing some improvisation.

Next Friday’s free show features supporting sets from JUNK and Van William.
