If we told you there was another Strokes project, would you wonder “Is this it?” Sorry, lousy joke. In the slipstream of Nick Valensi’s recently unveiled CRX and longer-running projects from Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr. and Fab Moretti comes bassist Nikolai Fraiture’s new quartet Summer Moon. In the new band, the New Yorker is joined by a trio of musicians familiar to L.A. audiences — Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction, Camila Grey of Uh Huh Her and Noah Harmon (ex-The Airborne Toxic Event). The first single “With You Tonight,” originally made with a supporting cast of Erika Spring (Au Revoir Simone), Tennessee Thomas (the Like) and Lewis Lazar (Lewis Lazar and the Hydras), is a dose of sci-fi dance-punk that NME rightly likened to Men at Work’s “Down Under.” There will be a couple chances to dance to it this week in L.A.
