Video: The Prids, ‘Desolate’ (NSFW)

The Prids’ “Chronosynclastic” has got to be one of my sleeper albums the year; its noisy-beautiful neo-shoegaze keeps finding its way into my car CD player, perfect for both traffic jams and the open road. (Chris Martins touts it here; suffice to say it’s not far sonically from the early recordings by Silversun Pickups.) The Portland quartet is undertaking the ambitious project of making a video for each of the album’s tracks too – this Jon Garcia-directed piece for “Desolate” is strange and wonderful and a little bit eerie. Yes, it has full-frontal nudity, so if that bothers you (or if you’re my niece back in Illinois), please move to the next post.

The music is dreamy. The video is soothing and freeing. The woman is like a beautiful piece of art. Just a really delicious video.
