Tonight in L.A.: Jets Overhead, Bettye LaVette, Wallpaper, Eastern Conference Champions

Top 4 ways to keep that summertime adrenaline pumping:

Jets Overhead have jetted in from Canada – that’s their new video for “I Should Be Born,” above – and since I’ve advocated for them before, I’ll do it again. They play the Roxy on a KROQ Locals Only bill (hmm, KROQ now reaches all the way to Vancouver? That’s impressive) with true locals Italian Japanese, Sea of Cortez and Sabrosa Purr. Good bill, and to celebrate, here’s a download of “I Should Be Born.”
Bettye LaVette and her pipes entertain the crowd at the free 7 p.m. show at the Santa Monica Pier.
‣ A rare indie-rock sighting in Westside environs, and highly recommended – Eastern Conference Champions and Voxhaul Broadcast play the Brixton in Redondo Beach.
‣ And Wallpaper plays the free Spaceland Under the Stars show at Pershing Square.

Your tastes may vary: Wet & Reckless and Lesands at LaBrie’s in Glendale; the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the House of Blues; Mark Ballas at the Viper Room; Woven Bones at Spaceland; Childish Gambino at the Bootleg Theater; Jogger at the Echo; Prima Donna at the Troubadour; Alex and Sam at the Hotel Cafe; Matt Kearny at Saint Rocke; the Michael Schenker Group at the Key Club; the Color Turning and International Tennis Champions at the Silverlake Lounge; Ballerina Black at 3 Clubs; the Mormons at the Redwood; Vaud and the Villains at the Mint; the Jews on Vinyl Revue at the Skirball Center; and Crowded House’s 7 p.m. in-store at Amoeba.
