Dave Rosser, who has played guitar in the Afghan Whigs, the Gutter Twins and the Twilight Singers, has been diagnosed with operable colon cancer.
The Afghan Whigs today announced two benefit shows ā one on Dec. 14 at the Teragram Ballroom ā to raise money for Rosser’s medical expenses.
“Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now,” Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli said. “By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these shows will go to his medical care. Iām hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us.ā
At the L.A. show, the Afghan Whigs will perform their fifth album, 1996’s “Black Love,” in its entirety. The bill also features Mark Lanegan, Moby and Carina Round. The other benefit show is Dec. 10 at New Orleans’ Civic Theatre.
Tickets for the Teragram show ($50-$250) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Update: The Eagles of Death Metal have scheduled a benefit at the Teragram as well; it goes off the night before, on Dec. 13.
Donations for Rosser’s medical care may also be made through this Go Fund Me campaign.
