Milo Greene’s first two albums shifted from nascent folk-pop (2012’s self-titled debut) to moody, beat-driven electro-pop (2015’s “Control”), the common denominator being their glowing harmonies. This week, along with the announcement they have signed to Nettwerk, the band unveiled the new single “We Kept the Lights On.” In a way, it’s a happy middle point between Milo Greene’s two sonic stations — a guitar-based indie-rocker that moves briskly on peripatetic rhythms while sacrificing none of the band’s alluring harmonies. “This song feels like it’s at the epicenter of our collective sensibilities as a band,” says Graham Fink, who along with Marlana Sheetz, Robbie Arnett and Curtis Marrero will release an EP in the spring. “It’s sultry and haunting, but also melodically focused and driven by increasingly heavy drums and electric guitars.” Indeed, Milo Greene sound like they haven’t flipped the switch, just illuminated their strengths better.
