Stream: POWERS, ‘Dance’

Down through the years, rockers, pop artists and country singers alike have issued paeans to dance — either as an art form, or as a metaphor for another physical activity, or as simply as a hedonistic act of abandon in which you forget the world is going to hell in a spray-tanned handbasket and cut loose. The new single from POWERS — the duo of Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru — falls squarely in the latter category. “Dance” follows last October’s “Legendary” EP and a couple of other 2015 singles on POWERS’ cauldron of unfailingly irrefutably catchy pop songs, which figures to expand when the duo’s full-length, “Alpha,” arrives April 7 via Republic Records. To review: Del Rio and Ru compiled an estimable length of writing and production credits for A-list artists before setting off on trying to become one themselves. If Blur’s “Song 2” were a he/she disco anthem, it would be “Dance,” so enjoy the guitars, imagine the President on a spaceship and move your bodies.
