Fresh off the release of their album “Life and Livin’ It,” Sinkane is off on a world tour with a stop in two weeks at the Bootleg Theater. “Life and Livin’ It” is a record that follows multi-instrumentalist/producer Ahmed Gallab’s vision of a joyous and socially conscious outlook on life and the experiences that encompass it. The same funk and soul grooves combined with sub-Saharan African rhythms and melodies are found in this record as in the past. “Life and Livin’ It” stands out, however, as a progression from 2014’s “Mean” with incredibly catchy Afro-pop that will likely take Sinkane to the next level. All of these components are a reflection of Gallab’s many influences from London, Sudan, Utah to New York. And it is this New York music scene that challenged him to include these social and musical influences in his work.

“Telephone” paints a typical bootie call into an infectious groove. The narrator leaving no doubt that the caller is looking for, making no bones about it and declaring that he’s “not falling for [the] tease.” The video paints a picture that this is a repeated offense as the caller is shown dialing multiple times, getting more into the groove each time. Dial it up.
