Red Hot Chili Peppers satiated their loyalists with a high-energy set Wednesday night at Staples Center — the second of three sold-out hometown shows this week. After Flea saluted the band’s former drummer Jack Irons, who opened, at the start of the night, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue amped up the crowd with a funky, brassy set. The Chili Peppers then delivered an old-and-new mix that included a smattering of songs from last year’s album “The Getaway” and covers of Iggy and the Stooges’ “Search and Destroy” and Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.”
RHCP setlist: Intro Jam, Around the World, Otherside, Snow, Dark Necessities, Hey, Search and Destroy (Iggy and the Stooges cover), Go Robot, Californication, Aeroplane, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder cover), Dreams of a Samurai, Soul to Squeeze, By the Way. Encore: Goodbye Angels, Give It Away
