White Sea, the new solo project from M83 keyboardist-singer Morgan Kibby, will headline “A Night With Buzz Bands LA” on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Spaceland. Los Angeles quintet Hello Dragon, teenage-sensation-turned-indie-popper Teddy Geiger and Scottish sextet Dananananaykroyd will support. Doors are 8:30. Tickets are $8.
White Sea – Recently released its debut EP, “This Frontier,” and two weeks ago captivated a Hotel Cafe audience at its first live show. Kibby, who co-wrote four of the song’s on M83’s 2008 album “Saturdays = Youth,” is joined in her live band by Jonathan Bates, Ray Suen and Amy Wood.
Hello Dragon – The longtime collaboration of Chris Zerby and Julie Chadwick (who made music as Helicopter Helicopter before their L.A. days), this quintet trades in wry, sharply observational power pop on its new album “Information.” Bassist Micheal Eisenstein (Letter to Cleo/Kay Hanley), drummer Sean Burgess and keyboardist Jeremy Wilkins round out the lineup.
Dananananaykroyd – The Scottish sextet who have been likened to Los Campesinos! will be making their U.S. debut. Pitchfork had nice things to say about their 2009 album “Hey Everyone!”
Teddy Geiger – The 22-year-old New Yorker was on the Billboard charts, magazine covers and television shows as a teenager, but after parting ways with Columbia Records he’s charting his own artistic course. The L.A.-based songwriter just released a new EP, “Living Alone.”
