Considering his resumé with Further, Beachwood Sparks and the Tyde, Brent Rademaker proved a natural to carry the torch for the “classic California country” when he debuted his project GospelbeacH in 2015. The album “Pacific Surf Line” served as a welcome rekindling of the flame, and now Rademaker and his compatriots are ready for Act 2. GospelbeacH’s next journey into the cosmos is “Another Summer of Love,” due June 15, an album that, with its familiar chords, washes of keys and pristine harmonies, gives you the sensation you’re overlooking a canyon vista, nestled in fleece, watching another spectacular SoCal sunset. In 1974.
The band’s core crew — Rademaker, with Jon Neiman, Jason Soda, Neal Casal, Ben Redell and Derek Brown — were abetted by Pearl Charles, Miranda Lee Richards, members of Wilco, Mapache, Eels and pickers from the Grand Ole Echo in the making of the album. It was produced at Palomino Sound, the new studio helmed by Soda. The first single is “You’re Already Home,” which Rademaker says is a subtle homage to Byrd/Burrito Brother Chris Hillman’s “Girl With No Name.” It makes “easy on the ears” sound like an understatement.
