That wasn’t an earthquake out there in Valley Village this morning; it was just Haim announcing their highly anticipated sophomore album “Something to Tell You” would be out July 7. That’s 1,379 days between album releases, but who’s counting? The Haim sisters — Este, Danielle and Alana — worked with Ariel Rechtshaid (who produced 2013’s debut “Days Are Gone”) and Rostam Batamanglij (ex-Vampire Weekend) on the new album, which presumably will include the two new songs — “Give Me Just a Little of Your Love” and “Nothing’s Wrong” — that the band has been performing at their sporadic recent live dates. And the band introduced a new one today, or a live-in-the-studio version of it. It’s titled “Right Now,” captured in ballad form in the video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. One reckons there will be more revealed by the time they play the Glastonbury festival in the U.K. in June.
Updated noon Friday: Haim just announced two free shows, Monday and Tuesday, at L.A.’s Teragram Ballroom; entry is first-come, first-served and you need to register at this link.
