The Marías’ “I Don’t Know You” is warmer than a long night in front the fireplace — elegant, soulful, mysterious, alluring. The Los Angeles-based quintet today unveiled the equally stylish video for it, directed by Ian Lipton and starring the band’s siren Maria Zardoya and its drummer/producer Josh Conway as a couple in the throes of being a couple.
The song is the first single from the Marías’ debut EP, “Superclean Vol. I,” arriving this fall and featuring the silken vocals of Zardoya, born in Puerto Rico, reared in Atlanta and an Angeleno for the past two years. Backed by Conway, bassist Carter Lee, keyboardist Edward Friedlander and guitarist Jesse Perlman, the frontwoman proves mighty good at laying down the smooth jam. We’re toast.
