It’s been more than two years since Dead Sara have released any new music, but the L.A. quartet reminded a hometown crowd at the Troubadour on Sunday night what they’re all about. Emily Armstrong turned fronting a band into an Olympic sport, as Dead Sara threw a 90-minute rager that included songs from a forthcoming new EP, as well as their 2012 and 2015 full-lengths. Things got a little goofy because it was drummer Sean Friday’s birthday, but the rest of the night was vintage Dead Sara ā guitarist Siouxsie Medley shredding and Armstrong taking flight, vocally and literally. The crowd thrashed steadily throughout as Armstrong got in their face, crowd-surfed and at one point climbed atop a huge stack of amps and leaped back to the stage.
Marc Baker opened the night.
