Supporting the release of her fourth album, “Yesterday Was Forever,” Kate Nash could not have been more excited to perform at the Fonda on Tuesday night. With a big red-lipped smile and wearing a robe and tiara, Nash kept the energy high all night long. After being dropped by her label, Nash raised money to fund the record on Kickstarter, and her fans rallied to support her independence. She opened the set teasing long-time fans at the piano with a taste of her early hits, “Foundations” and “Mouthwash,” followed by latest single “Life In Pink.” Prefacing “Musical Theatre,” a song about her own experience with obsessive compulsive disorder, Nash urged the crowd to take mental health issues seriously and get help if they need it, saying “People think getting help is a weakness, but it’s a strength.” Despite the good vibes on stage, a scuffle broke out in the crowd, which Nash responded to by cheerfully but sternly encouraging the crowd to “Be on your best behavior. Nobody’s getting kicked out during this song!” A bit more on the serious side, Miya Folick opened the night with a captivating set of emotional pop.
