[Birthday greetings today to Light FM’s Josiah Mazzaschi. And here’s tonight’s menu:]
Tonight’s entirely biased show recommendations, or Things to Ponder While Listening to Gang of Four on “Morning Becomes Eclectic” (11:15 a.m.):
‣ Buzz Bands LA’s night at the Satellite features Army Navy (pictured) – the L.A. quartet returning with an album’s worth of new material – along with A House For Lions [get “Come On, Let’s Go”], Sing the Body Electric [watch this space later today] and Soft Swells [check out “Every Little Thing”]. The Moheak Radio DJs will be on hand to keep things hopping in between sets.
‣ Godspeed You! Black Emperor plays to a sold-out Fox Theater in Pomona.
‣ Joseph Arthur’s music and art residency continues at the Bootleg Theater, and supporting tonight will be ex-Shudder to Think frontman Craig Wedren, who has a solo album on the way in May. [See Wedren’s interactive video, posted last week.]
‣ And Versus is back. In 2010 the NYC trio released “On the Ones and Threes,” their first album in 10 years. They headline the Echoplex tonight, with Polls supporting.
