Enjoy a free concert under the stars with music steeped in the South Carolina Low Country’s Gullah culture, tracing its roots back to West Africa and the transatlantic slave trade. Named after a Gullah expression roughly translating to “work it” or “get funky,” Ranky Tanky will move you with their gospel-style vocals, jazzy trumpet solos, and African rhythms. Don’t miss Ranky Tanky on the Skirball stage on Thursday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m. Arrive early to visit the Museum, currently featuring The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited and Bernstein at 100. Free admission, parking is $10 per car.
