L.A. Phil celebrates 100 with an eight-mile festival and free concerts

The Los Angeles Philharmonic, in partnership with CicLAvia and Community Arts Resources (CARS), is throwing a free, eight-mile block party on Sunday, Sept. 30, from Walt Disney Concert Hall downtown to the Hollywood Bowl, culminating in a huge bash at the Hollywood Bowl later in the evening, to celebrate the start of its centennial season. 

The Open Streets Festival portion that begins at 9 a.m. will feature over 1800 musicians, artists and dancers who will perform across six stages at  Disney Hall, the Levitt Pavilion Los Angeles in MacArthur Park, Liberty Park in Koreatown, Melrose Avenue at North Windsor, Vine Street between Hollywood Boulevard and Yucca Street, and the Hollywood Bowl’s Kagan Patio. Music acts will include Dengue Fever, Dustbowl Revival, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Jason White and Co., Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, Klezmer Juice, Las Cafeteras, Ozomatli, Phoebe Bridgers, Pink Martini, Poncho Sanchez, Ricardo Lemvo and TAIKOPROJECT.

L.A. Phil 100 at the Bowl, the free ticket-via-sweepstakes evening show, then begins at 7 p.m. at the Hollywood Bowl. Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the L.A. Phil with special guests Katy Perry, Herbie Hancock, Kali Uchis and Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA).
