Reverberating with the echoes of Nine Inch Nails and Garbage, “Born Dark” finds L.A. goth-rockers Holy Wars plunging even deeper into the pulchritude of gloom. The single is the first new music from singer Kat Leon and collaborator Nicolas Perez since last year’s “Mother Father” EP, whose vein-bulging catharsis followed the death of Leon’s parents in 2015. Fatalism still casts its shadow on the duo’s music, and as the title of the new, synth-strafed single suggests, Leon says it might always be that way.

Leon and Perez made the song with engineer Mat Mitchell (Nine Inch Nails, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle), drummer Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle, The Beta Machine) added drums and guitarist/engineer Jeff Sahyoun (Letlive).
