Earlier this week, Connie Lim — aka MILCK — unveiled the poignant new song “A Little Peace” via YouTube’s Creators for Change program. It features MILCK performing the song with seven strangers she found through open auditions.

The song was inspired by the despair the songwriter felt as she watched the Las Vegas mass shooting unfold in October 2017. “The only things that kept me from spiraling into fear and despair were my fans, and my music,” Lim says. “I remember turning on my Instagram Livestream to play a spontaneous concert to find a way of not being alone. As I was playing the concert, I came up with the chorus of ‘A Little Peace.’ When YouTube told me about the Creators for Change program, I knew my song would have the right home. They understood my vision of bringing strangers together to create literal and figurative harmony. My director and I assisted through hundreds of testimonials of singers from all over the world, and we found seven voices to join me in the studio. Each person brought such uniqueness and beauty to the project.”

For MILCK, who gained renown with the single “Quiet” after performing it at the 2017 Women’s March in Washington, D.C., “A Little Peace” is a modern “We Are the World” moment. As the songwriter explains in the intro, it’s based on that essentially “people are good.”
