“Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements” — that’s not the motto for the Desert Daze festival, although one could make a case for it.
It’s the title of the 25-year-old album by art-pop innovators Stereolab. The English-French band — who in December announced a wide-ranging reissue campaign and a return to touring — will perform in October at the eighth annual Desert Daze on Moreno Beach at Lake Perris. The appearance will be part of Stereolab’s first North American tour in more than a decade.
Today’s news is the first in a series of lineup announcements from Desert Daze, which usually unveils its roster in stages. The next batch of performers to perform at the three-day event (Oct. 10-13) is expected next Tuesday.
Festival organizers in November announced the event would return to scenic Lake Perris for a second year, hoping to put behind them the problems that plagued Desert Daze last year (which then were compounded by the freakish weather). In today’s announcement, they vow to have “upgraded facilities, expanded infrastructure, improved wireless connectivity and streamlined guest check-in.”
