Swedish pop singer Robyn brought a little “Honey” to the Red Bull Music Festival Los Angeles on Saturday night.
During the first of two nights at the Hollywood Palladium in support of her eighth album, 2018’s “Honey,” the charismatic performer turned virtually the whole venue into a dance party. She performed all but one song from the new album on the first night of a three-week North American tour. Late in the set, with the energy high, she dipped into her past with “Don’t Fucking Tell Me What to Do” and “Dancing on My Own,” both from 2010’s “Body Talk Pt. 1,” before richocheting back to the present with “Missing You,” the lead track on the new album and, when it was released last August, her first solo single in eight years.
Tonight’s second sold-out Palladium date with Robyn will wrap up the RBMFLA, with featured a month of performances, screenings and roundtables at various venues around L.A.
Setlist: Send to Robin Immediately, Honey, Indestructible, Hang With Me, Beach2k20, Ever Again, Be Mine!, Because It’s in the Music, Between the Lines, Love Is Free, Don’t Fucking Tell Me What to Do, Dancing on My Own, Missing U, Call Your Girlfriend. Encore: Human Being, With Every Heartbeat, Who Do You Love?
