Emily Haines was clearly in a good mood Wednesday night. And that translated to a jubilant atmosphere for everybody else at the Hollywood Palladium, where Metric stopped on a tour in support of their seventh album, “Art of Doubt.”
Haines, smiling and bounding all over the stage, led the band through a long set that included older hits such as “Dead Disco,” “Synthetica,” “Twilight” and “Black Sheep,” along with new album singles “Dark Saturday” and “Love You Back.” Metric began the show with the latter song, with the band taking the stage in an eerie cloud of smoke illuminated by a single beam of LED lights.
Grammy-winning Mexican rockers ZOÉ opened the show, getting a huge reception evidenced by the fact that their fans turned out in force.
Metric setlist: Love You Back, Synthetica, Risk, Dressed to Suppress, Breathing Underwater, Art of Doubt, Twilight Galaxy, No Lights on the Horizon, Artificial Nocturne, Seven Rules, Cascades, Black Sheep, Gimme Sympathy, Dead Disco, Gold Guns Girls. Encore: Dark Saturday, Now or Never Now, Help I’m Alive
