Ariel Beesley debuted last year with a self-titled EP of pop music with teeth — danceable New Wave reminiscent of a certain blonde icon known for her style as well as her hits. The EP was a milestone in the singer-songwriter and model’s musical career, a track that gained momentum in 2016 after the San Fernando Valley-bred artist attended a songwriting camp hosted by Aviici in Stockholm, Sweden.

Last week, Beesley returned with a sparkling new single, “Palm Springs,” a love song to herself. “While my debut EP released was written while falling in love, this song and forthcoming record focus on the process of falling out of love — then in love with myself,” she says. “This song is at the forefront of that journey. It was the catalyst for a enormous shift we see in ourselves when we learn to put self-love above all else. It is a perfect summer breakup anthem for everyone finding their way back to themselves.”

The tune, co-written with Dan Chavez Wright of 3D Friends and produced by Justin Warfield (She Wants Revenge), finds winning the tug-of-war as she tries to pull away from a poisonous relationship. Walking away is often hard.
