Something indeed is “In the Air” … and it turns out it’s a new Allah Las album. “LAHS,” the Los Angeles quartet’s fourth full-length, will be out Oct. 11 via Mexican Summer.

The album — its title references a common misspelling of the band’s name — was introduced today by director Sam Kristofski’s endearingly goofy video for “In the Air,” an homage to “Weekend at Bernie’s” with a cameo by Kirin J Callinan.

Like much of the psych-pop/garage-rock in Allah Las’ catalog, “In the Air” feels like a faded postcard from California, evoking simpler times and remaining hopeful they’ll come round again. The band — guitarists Miles Michaud and Pedrum Siadatian, drummer Matt Correia and bassist Spencer Dunham — make songs that lap at the shore during low tide rather than big breakers that charge the adrenaline.

And speaking of postcards, the album’s artwork includes a collection of postcards, stamped from exotic locations, designed by Correia and Robbie Simon. “We’ve been traveling a lot the past couple years and I think that played a role in influencing the broader variety of songs on this record,” Correia says. “‘LAHS to me feels like a soundtrack to the past five years or so. A sort of audio postcard to anyone who wants to listen.”
