A busy first Monday of a new month:
‣ Battles bring the indie prog-rock to the Echoplex, with Holloys supporting.
‣ Australian singer-songwrtier Xavier Rudd (pictured) brings his guitar-didgeridoo-percussion juggling act (and songs off last year’s “Koonyum Sun”) to the El Rey Theatre as part of a 21-date tour on which L.A.’s HoneyHoney opens.
‣ White Arrows kick off a residency at the Bootleg Theater with a lineup featuring Chain Gang f 1974, Lesands and Vanaprasta.
‣ The first night of the He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister residency at the Satellite offers up sets by Soko and Cowboy & Indian, along with a big by burlesque troupe the Rag Dolls. DJ Ana Calderon presides.
‣ Taylor Locke & the Roughs start their residency at the Silverlake Lounge, supported by The Shrine, Joe Firstman and a set from Keith Slettedahl of the 88.
‣ And at the RSVP-only It’s a School Night at Bardot, it’s Ceci Bastida and Leftover Cuties.
