Sofi Tukker brought their wild and wildly colorful live show to the Shrine Expo Hall on Thursday night, mixing songs from their new EP “Dancing on the People” with a host of singles and favorites from their 2018 album “Treehouse.”
Following an acrobatic performance by Australian trio Haiku Hands and a revved-up DJ set from LP Giobbi, Sofi Tukker — Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern — launched into their set with “Fuck They.” As is her habit, Hawley-Weld went crowd-surfing during “Mi Rumba,” although this time she ventured too far from the stage. The song had to be halted briefly until she made it back to the stage to continue her vocals.
Included in the set was the new song “Fish” and the premiere of a reworked version of “Swing,” which appears on the new EP. The date was the sixth of Sofi Tukker’s “R.I.P. World Tour,” which takes the duo across North America and Europe through mid-December. The run follows some time off this summer after Hawley-Weld suffered a broken foot, forcing postponement of the duo’s May and June concert dates.
