A week away from the release of the Airborne Toxic Event’s new album “Hollywood Park” — and 10 days away from the publication of frontman Mikel Jollett’s memoir of the same name — the band has postponed all 2020 touring plans. Instead, they have announced 40-plus dates for 2021, starting in February and including an April 2 concert at the Greek Theatre.
The band announced today in a YouTube video that they will perform a live-streamed concert from EastWest Studios (where they made the album) at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 22, the day of the release.
“Hollywood Park” is the band’s sixth album and first in five years.
Jollett, whose book “Hollywood Park: A Memoir” is already garnering (deserved) acclaim, will do an Instagram session at 3:15 p.m. today with Finneas on both his channel and Airborne’s. According to the announcement, the pair will trade off songs and discuss books, songwriting, quarantine and more.
