Members of the transatlantic indie-pop collective the Luxembourg Signal are spread between Los Angeles, San Diego and London, but they’ve carved out a niche among fans of ’80s/’90s-era indie-pop. After debuting with a self-titled album in 2014 and following it with “Blue Field” in 2017, the seven-member group convened again to make a third full-length.

It’s titled “The Long Now,” a phrase coined by Brian Eno, who asserts the “now” is never just one moment in time. It’s a long-view approach to modern existence.

The first single from the new album is “2:22,” a starburst of chugging guitars and twee vocals that clocks in a 2 minutes 22 seconds and obsesses, if briefly, over being trapped in a digital world.

The band — co-vocalist Beth Arzy, guitarist Johnny Joyner and drummer Brian Espinosa (all of whom were once in Aberdeen), along with singer Betsy Moyer, keyboardist Ginny Pitchford, bassist Daniel Kumiega and guitarist Kelly Davis — made the album with engineer Mark Rains, who worked on their sophomore effort. David Klotz (Fonda, Dream System 8) guests on the track “Cut the Bridle.”

“The Long Now” is out Oct. 23 via Shelflife/Spinout Nuggets.
