When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

Like the song itself, director Leanne Kriz’s video for Kacey Johansing’s new single “All of Me” is all about reflection. It’s a poignant companion to the singer-songwriter’s luminous song about self-image.

“‘All of Me’ was written in one sitting after an emotional meltdown on a day when I couldn’t fit into any of my clothes,” Johnansing says. “It’s a song about self-love, self-acceptance and body positivity. It’s realizing that self-worth is defined by your true inner beauty and not what beauty standards have been projected onto us as women.

“Being a woman with a body that always seems to be sized out and who struggles with physical insecurities, I wrote this in an attempt to finally love my body no matter what. The first time I performed it live I remember feeling so vulnerable — singing about self-love is somehow harder than singing about love for someone else.”

The song is the second single from Johansing’s fourth full-length, “No Better Time,” out Nov. 20. Born in Michigan and reared in Colorado, the singer-songwriter has planted roots in L.A., where besides minding her own solo career she’s played in friends’ bands (including, most recently, Meg Duffy’s Hand Habits) and helmed the independent label Night Bloom Records.

Her new album, the follow-up to 2017’s “The Hiding,” creates a lush backdrop for Johansing’s unclouded vocals, which, despite bearing the weight of her own emotions, bring a striking warmth reminiscent of ’70s folk-pop sirens. Contemporary touchstones might be artists such as Weyes Blood.

The album was produced by Johansing and Alex Bleeker (Real Estate, Alex Bleeker and the Freaks) along with multi-instrumentalist Tim Ramsey (Vetiver, Fruit Bats) and features contributions from from Todd Dahlhoff (Feist, Devendra Banhart), Trevor Beld Jimenez (Parting Lines) and Amir Yaghmai (Julian Casablancas + the Voidz).
