“I’m worried about the future for my kids,” 92-year-old Burt Bacharach says. “What kind of country are we leaving for our young people?”

The songwriting legend today unveiled the new single “The Great Divide,” a tune he penned after his tour of Japan was scotched by the pandemic in February. Melody Federer, who collaborated with Bacharach on the January single “Bridges,” contributes the lyrics, and Bacharach’s band is fronted by singer John Pagano during the session recorded at Capitol Records studio.

On Sunday, Bacharach will perform the live-streamed event “A Concert for Democracy,” with part of the proceeds going to When We All Vote.
