■ Ease that Election Day anxiety and groove to alternative soul artist UMI (née Tierra Umi Wilson) and her band expanding in loops, multiple voices and languages in her recent live session of songs from throughout her catalogue.  The Seattle-native was picked up by a few indie labels while attending USC before signing to RCA and committing full time to her music career. With an African American drummer father and Japanese American pianist mother, UMI began her songwriting at age five and began self-distributing covers and original songs on Soundcloud while in high school. She released her first major-label release, the EP “Interlude,” in June.
