Video: Keren Ann, ‘My Name Is Trouble’

Singer-songwriter-composer Keren Ann is something of a quiet riot. The 37-year-old globetrotter, born in Israel to Russian and Dutch parents and reared in the Netherlands and Paris, sings in hushed tones, amid lush orchestration, about frequently stark (if not dark) themes, her keen melodic sense often exuding the innocence of a French chanson. American audiences starting falling for her when Capitol released her first English-language album “Not Going Anywhere” in 2003, and she’s done little to disappoint since, her songs ending up in TV and film and her many other projects including a collaboration with the Icelandic Symphonic Orchestra. Her seventh album “101” (released in March) elevates her folk-pop to another level; her songs seem to flow as if water from a glass. In the video for “My Name Is Trouble,” her robotic dance moves come off as detached yet seductive. Not sure four-on-the-floor was ever this sophisticated.
