Fly Felix is the indie-rock project helmed by singer-songwriter Drew Tyler, who draws inspiration from the vast desert expanses of his native Arizona, alt- and psych-rock giants of today and yesteryear and no small amount of mysticism.
Continuing a theme established by his 2020 debut, “The Sun Will Wake You Up” (see the cover art), Fly Felix’s next EP “Hope You’re Alright” is inspired by the original Rider-Waite tarot series.
Here’s the art for the new single, “Warm Blood,” out today. Which is a pretty intriguing tease for a widescreen rock song that positively surges through your veins for 3 minutes. Like the rest of the forthcoming EP, it’s co-produced by Adam Thein (Slow Pulp, Post Animal), Tyler and the songwriter’s collaborator, keyboardist-composer Eric McDermott.
It was McDermott with whom Tyler teamed up a couple years ago in that haven of red rocks and energy vortices, Sedona, Ariz., for a writing retreat. The four-month stay yielded the songs on “The Sun Will Wake You Up.”
On Friday, Fly Felix will debut the “live from home,” full-band video for “Warm Blood.” Watch it here.
