Feeling worn down? Gavin Turek returns today with a tune to soundtrack your keep-on keepin’-on.
“Slide” is the first single since 2019 from the L.A. pop-soul singer with the bright voice, brisk dance moves, big hair and bigger smile — and a collaboration with L.A.-via-Arkansas singer-songwriter-producer Malik Flint, aka bLAck pARty. It’s a slightly funky slice of ’70s pie, a pep talk for putting the past behind and moving forward.
“As an artist it’s too easy to get discouraged by rejection in this process. Time continues to escape regardless, and you must choose to slide into the next step. You must decide to keep going whether or not you get the validation you seek,” Turek says, adding that working with bLAck pARty “really brought the song to a whole other level energetically. I’ve always loved his essence and he effortlessly captured the vibe and the message.”
Turek, who first earned wide notice for “Frontline,” and has sung backup for the likes of Mayer Hawthorne, Cee Lo Green and Tuxedo, has a larger project the works. So, as they say, stay tuned.
