In 2015, Colleen Green documented the vagaries of reaching the Big Three-Oh on her album “I Want to Grow Up.” Whether she got that wish is really anyone’s guess.
Lo-fi aesthetic and ostensibly cool sunglasses intact, the singer-songwriter returns Sept. 10 with her first album since, “Cool,” out via Hardly Art. It was made with producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes), drummer Brendan Eder and hip-hop producer Aqua.
The first single is the thoroughly relatable “I Wanna Be a Dog,” an ode to wanting the simple life and for “somebody to tell me that I’m good,” and it arrived this week with a video directed by Steele O’Neal. High concept? No, but it’s as charming as anything could be from somebody whose favorite album is “Dude Ranch.”
