Over the past decade, Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward — She & Him for their joint musical venture — have become the It Duo for the holidays.
This weekend they reconvened at the very decked-out Theatre at Ace Hotel to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album “A Very She & Him Christmas,” which, since its release in 2011, has become something of a holiday staple.
They first staged holiday shows in 2018, moving their L.A. location to the Ace the next year. After a year off because of the pandemic, they were back for two nights of warm vibes and a bounty of familiar tunes. This year’s deluxe version of the album included the newly recorded “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” absent from Saturday night’s set. But songs from the duo’s second holiday album, 2016’s “Christmas Party,” were plentiful, along with a couple of originals.
