Roots-rocker Hamish Anderson — he of the blues guitar prowess with which few are gifted — would probably like nothing more than to trumpet the arrival of a new album to follow up his 2019 sophomore release “Out of My Head.”

But the Australian singer-songwriter, who made L.A. his second home base in 2014, has been cooling his heels in his native Melbourne since early 2020. He had gone to his homeland to open for George Thorogood early that year and was there when COVID-19 gripped the world.

His new single, the hopefully titled “Everything Starts Again,” is a meat-and-potatoes classic rocker that, like his lone 2021 single “Morning Light,” was recorded remotely. Both are garnished with tasty guitar interludes and world-weary lyrics. Anderson continues to do right by the guitar gods who went before him.

And as for the pandemic? “Just when you think it’s the end / everything starts again,” he said. And for two years that’s been the sad truth.
