If you have any residual cobwebs from the pandemic, consider them blown away — at least after you spend two minutes listening to “Funeral Solution.”
It’s the new single from Osees / Oh Sees / Thee Oh Sees / whatever John Dwyer is calling it this week, the band without a comfort zone and that’s a good thing. The squawktastic new song introduces a new Osees album, “A Foul Form,” out Aug. 12 via Castle Face. It’s advertised as being for fans of “Rudimentary Peni, Crass, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Screamers, Abwarts, Stooges and all things aggressively tilted towards your face.”
And none other than Henry Rollins calls it “somewhat punkazoidal,” so if you made it through the albuum and two EPs that Osees released in 2020 and the two live albums they released last year, you know what you’re in for.
Like Dwyer says, “It’s a brief foray into the exhausting pogo pit, so stiffen your back and jerk with your knees.” Ready, set, go.
