Stream: The Garden, ‘Freight Yard’

Maverick twins Wyatt and Fletcher Shears — the duo that don’t need no stinkin’ genres — have returned with their new song as the Garden, “Freight Yard.” The independently released single is the follow-up to their 2020 album, “Kiss My Super Bowl Ring.”
The Garden pick up right where they left off — spectacularly discordant and chaotic, thumbing their model-dude noses at even the least conventional of conventions. There’s no comfort zone here, only calculated malevolence set to a maelstrom of bass and drums.
“‘Freight Yard’ is a song that is very near and dear to our hearts,” says Wyatt. “Feel free to play it for your grandma and grandpa, and if you don’t have those then you can listen to it very quietly with no one else around. I wrote this song while laying down at a freight yard a couple weeks ago. I would’ve stayed there longer, but I saw semi-truck headlights approaching so I had to get out of there.”
The release comes ahead of the duo’s appearance at the Viva L.A. music festival in June and a slew of tour dates this fall.
