Think of the 10th year of the Desert Daze festival as a case of many happy returns. Well, mostly happy, anyway.

Tame Impala, whose 2018 headlining set was cut short by a freak storm, will return for a special headlining set this year, the festival announced today. They will performing their breakout album, “Lonerism,” on the week of the 10-year anniversary of its release.

Joining the Australian psych-rockers as headliners are two other alums of Desert Daze — Iggy Pop (2017) and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (2017, 2018). It will be the only North American tour date this year for Iggy, 75.

The festival is set for Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Moreno Beach on Lake Perris, the site of the event since 2018. The pandemic scotched the festival in 2020, and a pared-back, one-stage version of Desert Daze was held last November. This year, the festival returns to a three-stage format, plus the Sanctuary.

Passes are on sale here. Password: lonerism.

Joining the top-liners will be the likes of Pond (show-stealers in ’18), Chicano Batman, the Marías, Sky Ferreira, BADBADNOTGOOD, Fuzz, Perfume Genius, JPEGMAFIA, Sleaford Mods, Aldous Harding, Men I Trust, Mild High Club, Viagra Boys, Cymande, Shannon and the Clams, Nation Of Language, Duster, Nilüfer Yanya, Show Me The Body, Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Surfbort, L.A. Witch, Automatic, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul, the Paranoyds, JJUUJJUU, ZO, Surprise Chef and Lady Wray, among others.  The fare for the Sanctuary, curated by Cristopher Cichocki, includes DJ sets by Nosaj Thing and Telefon Tel Aviv, along with sets from Clipping., Silent Servant and Kid 606, along with an immersive sound installation.

The festival will also offer music screenings and Q&As, workshops, yoga, additional entertainment in the campground, art installations and, for early arrivals on Thursday night, a “welcoming committee” featuring Meatbodies, Shannon Lay, Hooveriii, Quitapenas, Hott MT and more.
