Brothers Kody and Kyle Valentine are New Orleans natives who make music to brood by under the name the Holy Knives.

Theirs is an immersive rock hybrid that inspires the hyphenate electro-Western noir. Kody’s formidable baritone leads the way, with brother Kyle’s synths and effects giving their songs the feel of a film score.

Last fall brought the siblings’ first major release since they moved to L.A., the EP, “Where Are You Now, Golden Boy?,” highlighted by the lead song “Easy Trap.” Marching toward releasing a full-length, the duo kicked off the new year with the steamy single “Can’t Give Away My Heart,” on which they are backed by a string quartet.

The strings are back on the new single “Keep on Lyin’,” released last week. It’s a daunting reflection on how lies can pave the superhighway to madness, these days a road too often traveled.
