New Order and Tears for Fears head up the lineup for the inaugural Darker Waves Festival, a conflagration of bands (largely) rooted in the 1980s along with contemporary artists whose sound is rooted in that era.

The B-52’s, the Cardigans, Echo and the Bunnymen, Soft Cell, Devo, Orchestral Manoeuvres (OMD), the Psychedelic Furs, X, Violent Femmes, the Human League, the Chameleons and the English Beat will play the one-day festival, Nov. 18 at Huntington Beach City Beach.

They’ll be joined by more contemporary bands such as She Wants Revenge, Cold Cave, Drab Majesty and Glass Spells.

Presale passes go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for those who register. General admission tickets are $199, GA-plus are $355 and VIP-level start at $565.
