Since releasing a burner of a single, “Fire,” in spring of 2022, the Palms had their fingerprints on just one release, “California Child,” a collaboration with dance-pop artist GoldFish.
The duo — Johnny Zambetti and Ben Rothbard, once of local faves Terraplane Sun — returned today with “Talk Too Much,” a glossy folk song kissed by a nice guitar lick. “It’s about always trying to do the right thing, but always feel like you’re in the wrong,” Zambdetti says. Adds Rothbard: “With all of this self-absorption, we could all benefit from talking less and listening more.”
It’s a sampling from a batch of new songs the Palms will be playing on a handful of upcoming West Coast dates. The duo’s sophomore album, “Charlie,” came out in the fall of 2020.
