Video: Talker, ‘Twentysomething’

Sometimes you need to “yell at the world for 2 minutes and 27 seconds,” says Celeste Tauchar, framing her new single as Talker, “Twentysomething.”

Often longer, but that figures to be another song for another day. Over three EPs she’s released since 2018, Talker has proven a compelling diarist, whether she’s making songs in the alt-pop or indie-rock world. A punky rocker, “Twentysomething” is her first single since last year’s EP, “In Awe of Insignificance.” And it’s the first taste of a full-length, planned for summer of 2024, on which she worked with a host of producers. Daniel Loumpouridis (Louis the Child, King Mala, Ryan Woods) produced this one.

“This song is me giving myself permission to be frustrated, to say ‘what the fuck,’ and to kick something,” Talker says. “I know that I’ll still have to pay off my credit card and open a high yield savings account, but in this moment, if I can get people to sing out their rage with me, that’s all I need.”

In the video for the song, directed by Sylvie Krekow, Talker finds some kindred spirits at DTLA’s the Love Song bar. They make a splash.
