Easy like Sunday morning…even though it’s Saturday.
‣Philadelphia trio the War on Drugs may sound firmly rooted Americana, but listen deeper and you’ll hear (or feel) hypno-melodies and the shoegaze sect of alt-rock. Their second album, “Slave Ambient”, is an intricate weave of reflection: plaintive vocals, washes of cascading guitars”¦the pieces just fit. See for yourself tonight at the Satellite along with Purling Hiss and Carter Tanton.
‣Pop reigns supreme as the blonde ambition of Sweden’s Robyn, “the most killingest pop star on the planet” and Royksopp play their only U.S. show together at the Hollywood Bowl.
‣In 2007 Tyler Ramsey (of Band Of Horses) was a rising solo artist opening for BoH and lead guitarist of BoH. Simultaneously. He’s at Bootleg Bar tonight supporting his third solo effort, “The Valley Wind” which was released in September. Also on the bill are worthy locals Henry Wolfe, and John Gold.
