The new single from Cold War Kids acknowledges changes big and small. In the orbit of the L.A. indie-rock quartet, Dann Gallucci has replaced Jonnie Russell on guitar as the band embarks on making its fourth album. On a larger scale, the Mayan calendar supposedly predicts the end of the world in 2012 (one theory says our demise will correspond with a period of high sunspot activity called a “solar maximum”). So, says singer Nathan Willett, “With humanity coming to an end soon, we are giving away our latest single.” “Minimum Day,” made with Oregon-based producer Richard Swift, is a garage-y skronk in which Willett wails “I might as well just lay down and die …” On the contrary, we advocate rocking all the way to the Rapture.

left turn for these guys, huh?
Anybody who does a recording session with Richard Swift does *some* kind of turn.
Any word on why Jonnie Russell was replaced??
The departure was said to be “for personal reasons”
