Ears Wide Open: Luna Is Honey

So much to draw from, and, seemingly, so little time. The music of L.A. four-piece Luna Is Honey is like a filter that’s retained bits and pieces of everything that’s been poured through it – ’80s New Wave, R&B, shoegaze and ’90s alt-rock, to name a few. The latter two figure influences prominently on the quartet’s forthcoming “Coolbreeze” EP, the follow-up to 2011’s sexier full-length “Sex Museum.” Singer-guitarist Josh Crampton, abetted by guitarist Adrian Acosta, bassist Jay Francisco and percussionist Amorn Bholsangngam, charges through rough-hewn guitar rock that’s tuneful enough to stick and complex enough to play on repeat. “No Moon” may not affect tides, but it has a great sting.
